After the Chernobyl disaster, there were many in Japan who foresaw the possibility of a similar disaster happening in Japan as well.
However, the government and the media continued to confidently state that “nuclear power is safe” despite such concerns.
Much to our dismay, on March 11, 2011,the Great East Japan Earthquake triggered a catastrophic nuclear disaster at the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant, which exposed large numbers of people to radiation.
Since then, our objective has been to restore the health of children who have been affected.
Even now, there are still many refugees and children who reside in areas highly contaminated by radiation, some of which compare to the levels of contamination once seen within the exclusion zone in Chernobyl.

It is estimated that 150,000 evacuees from the Fukushima nuclear disaster remain in temporary accommodation and approximately half of the elementary/secondary school students living in the surrounding towns and villages are still unable to play outdoors.
The quantity of radiation-contaminated water collected from the reactor buildings is increasing at a rate of 400 tons per day.
In Japan, large numbers of people gather outside the National Diet Building every Friday to demonstrate against the use of nuclear power.
Did you realize there is a danger that nuclear power could deprive you of your precious hometown…forever?
